The Sun will enter the sidereal sign of Scorpio on the November 16th and will remain there until December 17th. The Aditya for the solar month is Parjanya from the root word “pṛc” (पृच्) which means to satiate, fill or nourish. From the Samba Purana that Parjanya rides clouds and is responsible for rains and purifies it. Parjanya Aditya plays an important part in the sustenance of the life cycle by helping produce food as enumerated in 3.14 verse in the Bhagavad Gita. From Mundaka Upanishad 2.1.5 “Somāt parjanya, Oṣadhayaḥ pṛthivyām”- Rain (Parjanya) falls and plants grow on the earth. This concept is also enumerated in Rig Veda and Vishnu Purana (I have listed these verses in my previous write up in the past years. https://www.facebook.com/victory19/posts/10227632981715531). These verses also highlight the importance of collective responsibility in the process of transformation. The Sun, Moon, the Wind and the River have their own tasks in the process of creating rain. When we get together and work for a greater common cause, we invoke the yajñā spirit, our efforts are lifted higher like the evaporating water, and we get results like the droplets of water received by the earth.
In Chandogya Upanishad, Parjanya is used to denote Indra, in this sense Parjanya is the rain-maker, literally can mean “the one who can magically bring fortune through his associations”. The power of magic is the ability to influence from beyond the “known or conscious realms” which is akin to transformation. This magical power of transformation rests with Parjanya. At times we observe that, it is very difficult to shift out of our comfort zone as we try to defend, deny, repress or project to hold on to what is familiar to us and that which suits our personal agenda. The 8th house has hidden elements and it feels heavy dealing with its unpredictability. The 8th house is 12th from the 9th and it highlights our debts or what we have not been able to let go or endure. Whatever is in the 8th is difficult to endure. If it is the 9th lord then it may be authority or higher wisdom that is difficult to endure, and if it is the ascendant lord, then one may have a strong inner critic and therefore, it is very difficult to endure oneself. Letting go of personal agenda and consciously co-operating with what is offered in the moment by the universe is the key to achieve gracefully our full potential and to find the Indra (our competence and commitment) within each one of us.
Sun joins Venus and Mercury in Scorpio finishing the eclipse season for the year. Mars moves back into Taurus on the 13th of November. As Mars experiences the quality of Taurus, we can experience some stuck-ness or stubbornness with our actions. However as Mars is retrograde, it will want to give the results of Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio and Mars in Taurus are in an opposition and exchange signs until 5th of December till Venus moves into Sagittarius. Caution is warranted in relationships as passion can rage. However, it is a relief that the slow moving planets are now turning direct allowing us to get on with our pending projects. Saturn is direct in Capricorn and Jupiter becomes direct in Pisces on November 24st allowing his beneficence to be felt, albeit not at his full capacity until 19th December when the normal speed is achieved. Water signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces will enjoy optimism and cheer as two Sattva planets Jupiter and Sun will be in trines. Earth signs of Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn continue to be afflicted by Mars and Saturn in trines. Mercury and Venus move into Sagittarius on the 3rd and 5th December respectively. Jupiter, Venus and Mercury will be then be in quadrants for the Dual signs conferring a Sarasvati yoga (allowing for skill, excellent oratorical abilities and knowledge).
We celebrate the Kartikai Deepam festival in the South of India on December 6th to honour of Lord Shiva who appeared as a column of fire and some honour his son Kartikeya on that day. Lamp are lit in the evening with fireworks.
Let us seek the blessings of Parjanya Aditya to enable us to help us on our path of transformation to reach our full potential.
