The Journey of Spiritual Warrior : Enemies to Enlightenment
All battles are first won or lost in the mind. Every individual faces an inner battle against desire, anger, greed, delusion, pride and envy, collectively known as the Śad Ripu, the six inner enemies. While these tendencies can create suffering and shape our destiny, they also provide the opportunity for profound personal and spiritual transformation. In this presentation, I explore how Jyotiṣa and Advaita Vedānta complement one another in understanding these psychological patterns. Through the sixth house and numerous case studies of well-known personalities, I demonstrate how our inner weaknesses become visible in the horoscope and how the Śatka Sampatti, the six disciplines of Vedānta, provide a practical path towards mastering the mind and cultivating lasting inner freedom.
Understanding Gati – Journey of the Soul through the Twelfth House
The twelfth house represents gati—the movement and ultimate destination of the soul. It reveals not only what we must relinquish, but also the spiritual journey through which we move from attachment towards freedom. In this presentation, I explore the twelfth house through the lens of the Bhagavad Gītā, the Ṛg Veda and classical Jyotiṣa, examining its connection with sacrifice, karma, meditation, service and liberation. Using numerous case studies of historical and contemporary figures, I illustrate how planets placed in the twelfth house shape the experiences we are called to release, transform and ultimately transcend.
Kevala Yogada – Yoga of Purpose and Integration
Kevala Yogada reveals the degree to which the mind, intelligence and consciousness work in harmony, enabling an individual to express their unique purpose in life. In this lecture, I explore the philosophical foundations of Kevala Yogada through the teachings of the Kaivalya Upaniṣad, Kaṭha Upaniṣad, Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras and Advaita Vedānta. Drawing upon numerous case studies, I demonstrate how this yoga manifests in the lives of pioneers, artists, leaders and spiritual seekers, illustrating that true fulfilment arises not merely from achievement but from inner integration.
Rahu and Free Will : Can we Change our Destiny?
This presentation explores one of the most fundamental questions in both Jyotiṣa and Vedānta. Through the symbolism of Rahu, the Upachaya houses, and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gītā and Upaniṣads, I examine how desire, fear and habitual patterns shape our choices, and where genuine freedom begins. Drawing upon classical astrological principles and the lives of historical figures, I show how the horoscope reveals both our conditioned tendencies and our capacity for self-effort. Rather than viewing destiny as fixed, this lecture demonstrates how awareness, discipline and spiritual practice gradually expand our freedom, allowing us to move from compulsion towards conscious choice.
I did two presentations at the Kashi Jyotish Conference 2023. Click on continue reading to directly access my talks. The first talk aims to introduce the concept of atma and bondage philosophically while we also look for spirituality in horoscopes by examining the the 9th and 12th house before arriving at examples to determine our unique path (dharma devata and Ishta). The second talk aims to elaborate the meaning of liberation (moksha/mukti) while examining the suitability of four paths to freedom by looking at the Atma Karaka and its relationship to the Chara Karakas in navamsa in horoscopes of spiritual persons as well in some practical examples of statesman to see what the destiny beholds.
The talk aims to look at the position of the Moon in the horoscope and observe the qualities (gunas) that influence the mental complex by analysing the jala trikona of 4,8 and 12 houses thereby drawing conclusions on the emotional intelligence of an individual. A balanced mind helps to deal with uncertainty and change and enables us to successfully transit from the old to the new. I will also draw on my learnings from Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads to describe the gunas.
Karma Tara is the 10th Nakshatra from the Janma Tara and shows the real calling of a person, it can give us the throne if we are blessed. Through this talk I have examined examples to show how planets in karma tara, the lord and the devata of Karma Tara influence our choice in career or how they sometimes force a change of direction.
