The Sun will be in Taurus from the early hours of May 15th until the early hours of June 15th, and the Aditya for this sign is Aryaman. Aryaman is a bosom friend, companion, and associate, and more specifically one who asks a woman in marriage on behalf of another. In the Rigveda, Aryaman is frequently invoked alongside Mitra, Varuṇa, and Indra. While Indra represents sovereignty and force, Mitra agreement and concord, and Varuṇa restraint and law, Aryaman functions as the gentle regulator of equity, guiding individuals and families along socially accepted and ritually sanctioned paths. His authority is neither coercive nor contractual, but customary and relational, rooted in honour, kinship, and propriety.
Aryaman is associated with the solar function of the eyes, but vision here is not limited to physical sight. It denotes clarity of perception, moral discrimination, and the ability to see one’s proper place within the social order. One prays for right discernment by reciting शं नो भवत्वर्यमा — śaṃ no bhavatv aryamā. In Vedic thought, the eyes are also symbolically connected with the feet, both arising from the fire element (agni-tattva), governing direction, movement, and the path one takes in life. Aryaman thus presides over choosing the right path that aligns personal desire with communal responsibility. Aryaman Panthā, or the path of Aryaman, is a path of social legitimacy, custom, and lawful transition.
With the Sun in Taurus, these qualities are more readily internalised, encouraging a disposition towards stability, propriety, and socially aligned conduct.
Transits
Sun joins Mercury in Taurus, forming Budha–Aditya Yoga, which supports skill, clarity and practical intelligence in business and material matters. Gemini hosts the two preceptors, Jupiter and Venus, a paradoxical combination as both are benefic yet represent differing value systems, Jupiter inclined towards idealism and dharma, while Venus seeks comfort, refinement and personal enjoyment. Thus, two distinct lines of counsel, material and idealistic, remain available for decision-making until June 1st.
Mercury joins them on May 29th, forming Bhadra Mahāpuruṣa Yoga for the dual signs, enhancing communication, diplomacy, and reasoning. Jupiter with Mercury supports good judgment and execution, while Mercury with Venus may incline decisions towards material outcomes.
The sign Pisces, associated with oceans, healthcare, and large institutions, remains under pressure, with Saturn placed there and influences from Rahu and Mars hemming it on either side. However, Jupiter’s move into Cancer and its aspect to Pisces, its own sign, can begin to shift momentum.
On June 1st, Jupiter moves into its exaltation sign of Cancer and will remain there until October 31st. It will re-enter Cancer in retrograde motion on January 25th 2027, turn direct on April 13th 2027, and finally exit for Leo on June 25th 2027. Overall, Jupiter’s transit in 2026 in Cancer is likely to be more constructive than in 2027, owing to its better gait and forward movement.
This transit generally supports growth in welfare, protection, and stability, bringing a more supportive and optimistic environment. At the same time, Jupiter remains influenced by Rahu by sign aspect from Aquarius till October, which can create volatility in ideas and beliefs, along with rapid technological or societal shifts. Jupiter in turn aspects Saturn in Pisces, indicating a one-sided push for reform in global institutions, healthcare and water-related domains. As Saturn does not return the aspect and is placed in a fluid sign, execution could remain slow and uneven.
The conjunction of Jupiter with Ketu from late October 2026 into 2027 introduces an element of withdrawal and discontinuity into Jupiter’s otherwise expansive agenda, shifting emphasis from reform and growth towards reassessment, detachment and fragmentation.
In the immediate term, until June 21st, Jupiter is aspected by Mars from Aries, adding drive and decisiveness. This makes it a favourable period for taking action and advancing important matters.
Venus joins Jupiter in Cancer on June 8th. A brief planetary conflict occurs in the nakshatra of Punarvasu, with Venus prevailing, indicating a breakthrough and renewal, especially between June 8th and 10th.
During this month, the planets remain within the nodal axis, forming Kāla Amṛta Yoga, with the Moon periodically moving out of this configuration.
Festivals
Shani Jayanti, marking the birth of Saturn, the son of Surya, falls on May 16th, a Saturday, on Amavasya tithi. It is a suitable day to propitiate Saturn, especially for those undergoing challenging Saturn periods. Offerings of sesame, lighting oil lamps, charity, and disciplined conduct are recommended.
May Aryaman guide us to act with clarity and uphold right conduct in our lives and communities.
