Sun in Gemini 2026

Sun transits into the sign of Gemini on the 15th of June and will stay in the sign until late hours of 16th July. Sun in Gemini is represented by Mitra Aditya who is consistently portrayed as a friend of all beings, compassionate and beneficent. He embodies the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, viewing the world itself as one family bound through mutual obligation and harmony.

One of Mitra’s most distinctive Vedic characteristics is his ability to organise human society through articulated speech grounded in truth (ṛta). This idea appears repeatedly in the phrase janān yātayati—“he sets people in motion.”

मित्रो जनान् यातयति ब्रुवाणो मित्रो दाधार पृथिवीम् उत द्याम् । मित्रः कृष्टीर् अनिमिषाभि चष्टे

मित्राय हव्यं घृतवज् जुहोत ॥

mitro janān yātayati bruvāṇo mitro dādhāra pṛthivīm uta dyām | mitraḥ kṛṣṭīr animiṣābhi caṣṭe

mitrāya havyaṃ ghṛtavaj juhota ||3.59.1

“Mitra, by his utterance, sets people in motion; Mitra sustains both earth and heaven

Mitra looks upon communities with unclosing eyes; offer to Mitra the oblation rich in clarified butter.”

Mitra not only directs people toward proper action by organising them but also has the power of  harmonising human consciousness and social relations.

The word bruvāṇaḥ (“speaking” or “uttering”) can be highlighted as Mitra guides people not through fear or punishment, but through speech that is intelligible, visible, and collectively shared.

Mitra’s “unblinking” gaze (animiṣā) suggests not only vigilance but also constancy and reliability, qualities essential to friendship and social harmony.

These qualities of Mitra Aditya – articulate speech, the organisation of people, constancy in friendship, and the honouring of obligations, are intrinsically present in those with the Sun in Gemini and become more visible when the Sun is placed unafflicted in the 3rd house.

Transits

The Sun joins Mercury in Gemini to form Budha Aditya Yoga of skill and dexterity until June 22 when Mercury leaves Gemini briefly. This combination is especially potent for articulation as Mercury will be in its own sign having emerged from combustion, strengthening matters of intellect, commerce, communication, and political calculation. Thus, the first week of the solar month from June 15 -22 gives us the opportunity to negotiate and iron out details in contracts before the atmosphere becomes more reactive and divided later in the month.

Mercury turns retrograde in Cancer on June 29th and re-enters Gemini on July 7 where it encounters Sun. Mercury and the Sun then form bheda samyoga, moving in opposite directions, increasing disagreements between  business interests, political actors, and statesmen. Mercury becomes combust again from the July 7,  indicating business interests may be compromised or obscured. Their deep conjunction on July 13 in Punarvasu will bring fresh perspective and a shift in narrative.

Jupiter and Venus continue together in Cancer until July 4. Their conjunction in Punarvasu, which I wrote about last month, brings hope, virtue, nourishment, and renewal. Mundanely, this may support diplomacy, public sympathy, welfare measures, cultural softness, and recovery in domestic sentiment. Personally, it can amplify generosity, emotional bonding, protection, family values, and the desire for emotional security. Care should be taken against emotional excess, dependency, or nostalgia, especially when the Moon joins Jupiter and Venus on June 17-18.

Venus enters Leo and joins Ketu on July 4, marking a more difficult transit. Venus in Leo invites grand gestures, glamour, and political theatrics, but Ketu brings exposure, severance, and disillusionment. The exact conjunction on July 11 may expose hidden dynamics in relationships, leadership, diplomacy, and public image. Caution is advised in romances, financial speculation, and matters driven by ego or appearance.

Mars moves into Taurus, a fixed sign, on June 21, bringing greater stubbornness and fixation to action. Its departure from Pisces releases Pisces finally from being hemmed between malefics, which may bring some relief to global institutions, oceans, shipping, and healthcare-related sectors. Jupiter’s aspect from Cancer may allow guidance and institutional support to function with less obstruction.

A graha mālika yoga (garland of planets) forms from Mars in Taurus through to Ketu in Leo, binding together the houses from Taurus to Leo and tying themes of money, power, visibility, and influence together. Kala Amrita Yoga also remains active, keeping the planets enclosed within the nodal axis. Expect continued churning through July, with clearer outcomes emerging by August 1st.

Festivals

We celebrate the summer solstice on Sunday Jun 21 at 9.24 am in London to welcome the longest day in the northern hemisphere. We nearly get 17 hours of daylight in London. At this time, the Sun is visible at the highest position in the sky as the earth’s pole and has maximum tilt toward the Sun. Places close to the northern pole get 24hrs of sunlight and many pagan festivals such as the Midsummer festival are celebrated.

The famous Jagannāth Ratha Yātra which is usually close to the solstice is not until later due to the Adhika Masa (extra month). It is being celebrated on July 16th in Puri on the dvitiya tithi, śukla pakṣa of the Āṣāḍha month.

May Mitra bring clarity in speech, honour in agreements, and unity among people.
