Eye on the Sky – Solar eclipses of 2018 and the summer of discontent

There are three solar eclipses this year. All of the solar eclipses are partial and their magnitude is much smaller than the August eclipse we saw last year. However the tango of Mars and Ketu in Capricorn in the summer months when Mars is mostly retrograde during the two eclipses, with the planets hemmed between the nodes in a Kala amrita yoga will create friction and there is a greater need for caution. Jupiter in Libra is blessing for Aries and Libra and to an extent to Aquarius and Gemini ascendants until it transits into Scorpio in October.

The Sun is the soul of the Kala Purusha. Kala Purusha is the embodiment of the divine or the birth of the divine soul into a human form. The Soul takes birth usually for a purpose ascertained by the law of karma.

As the Sun travels around the Zodiac it creates the 12 rasis (signs) or Adityas. The purpose of the soul is shown by the placement of the Sun in a horoscope. This is a concept based on the “Dvadasa Adityas (12 adityas)”. These 12 Adityas are the sons of Sage Kashyap and Aditi, and they are giver of resources and skills that are necessary to achieve the purpose of the soul. The fourth divisional chart or Chaturthamsa (D4) is seen for landed assets and property. It operates at the physical level. There are four one-fourth divisions (7◦30’) in every sign. The first quarter of every sign falls in the same sign, the second quarter falls in the next Kendra or fourth from it, the third quarter in the seventh from it and finally the last quarter falls in the tenth house from itself.
